Radiant in hues of soft periwinkle to deep indigo, these smooth A grade tanzanite rondelle beads offer the ethereal beauty collectors and designers prize. Hand-cut and center-drilled, each petite bead reveals delicate transitions of blue and violet—colors achieved through expert heat treatment of naturally occurring zoisite.
In its raw form, tanzanite ranges from brown to yellowish brown; careful heating coaxes out the legendary cool blues and violet undertones brought forth by trace elements such as vanadium. The 12-inch strand features approximately 20 beads. Their small drill holes make them ideal for fine-gauge wire, elegant earrings and delicate stringing designs
Tanzanite was discovered in 1967 near the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the only known locality for this remarkable gemstone. Its single-source origin and limited global supply make it one of the rarest materials available to jewelry designers. Traditionally associated with clarity, intuition and self-awakening, tanzanite is also one of December’s birthstones, lending meaningful symbolism to finished designs.
