The makers of cathedral glass beads find it more complicated to develop new colors in cathedral glass beads than in any other type of glass bead. The end-cap color must be applied to the bead first, then the facets are cut. After the cutting, the beads must be carefully polished by fire a second time. Only the highest quality control and artistry ensures that the end colors are not burned by the additional firing. Size and shape may vary slightly and color may vary from dye lot to dye lot.
