Fishhook ear wires of blue chalcedony and gold-finished sterling silver feature the gemstones in a hand-cut diamond. The ear wire with closed loop design allows for the addition of a dangle embellishment such as a drop, charm or bead. Chalcedony is believed to have been named after an ancient town, Chalcedon, in Asia Minor. In those times, chalcedony was used for cameos--carved gemstones featuring a raised relief image. Sizes, shapes and colors may vary with handcrafted items.
