Peach moonstone varies in intensity from peach to light orange in color. Grey (silver) moonstone, with its occasional blueish tint, was once believed by the ancient Romans to be formed from moon rays. Generally a white stone, rainbow moonstone features occasional iridescent or multi-color flashes with transparency that ranges from opaque to semitranslucent. Rainbow moonstone is best seen in natural light for play of color.
