Wire Jigs

Wire (or wireworking) jigs are a plate or frame used for making standardized and repeatable wire-based jewelry components. Some jigs come as fixed forms while others include moveable pegs so designers can create their own shapes. Designers who want to use wire jigs for their jewelry lines can see how these tools work in the "How to Use a Wire Jig" video with Arbel.

Moveable Peg Wire Jigs

Wire jigs with moveable pegs offer jewelry makers higher levels of design control over the elements they are creating with wire. While most moveable peg wire jigs have flat tops, there are also “in the round” jigs for creating finger rings, bangles and cuff bracelets.

  • Thing-A-Ma-Jigs
This popular brand gives wireworkers control over their wire shapes with two versions of their easy-to-use tool, with either version suitable for different levels of use.
    • The plastic economy model is ideal for classes or for artisans starting to explore the use of wire jigs. The clear material makes wirework easier to see and the plastic pegs are less prone to scuff coated or anodized surfaces.
    • The aluminum deluxe model is designed for component production and advanced techniques. The hardened aluminum structure is engineered for long-term use and wireworkers can purchase additional aluminum pegs for more intricate designs.
  • Peg Leg™ Wire Jigs
These adjustable options are ideal for jewelry makers on the go, making wireworking more accessible by offering a tabletop version or a hand-held option with a comfortable wooden grip. These jigs can expand their work space, so designers can create longer pieces with intricate ends. Read the step-by-step instructions for using the Peg Leg™ Wire-Wrapping Jig here.
Additional steel pegs for the Peg Leg jigs are sold separately.
    • The hands-free tabletop model features a no-slip weighted base and an adjustable pivot so wireworkers can change the angle of their workspace.
    • The portable hand-held model is features a comfortable grip for fully portable wirework. Easy to tuck into a purse, this hand-held tool disassembles for easy storage.
  • Wire Bender Jig
This tool includes both moveable pegs and popular fixed forms such as a semicircle and triangle. Jig can be handheld or attached to a wood work table using the screws included in the package.

Fixed Form Wire Jigs

Many of the fixed form wire jigs you’ll find on this website are manufactured by Artistic Wire®. These jigs include immovable pegs and permanent curved shapes for easy use. The durable acrylic forms cause less abrasion to metal coatings than other surfaces. Wireworkers can add beads before bending or add charms and other embellishments after the shapes are completed.

Artistic Wire jigs include step-by-step full-color instructions and a pusher tool for flattening wire loops and intersections.
