Cut a 36-inch length of FireLine® 0.13mm diameter 4-fiber smoke thread.
String on four #3 Preciosa dark copper bugle beads. Bring the beads to the bottom of the thread, leaving a 2-inch length at the end for tying off.
Tie two overhand knots, forming the beads into a diamond.
String on one Miyuki #11 muscat rocaille seed bead. Then thread the needle through the last bugle bead you strung. Add another muscat seed bead and thread the needle through the next bugle bead. Repeat two more times to have a diamond with four seed beads, one in each corner.
String on a muscat seed bead, a 6mm jadeite round bead, and then another muscat seed bead. Thread the needle through the seed bead on the opposite corner of the diamond. Pull the thread snug so the beads lie flat across the center of the diamond.
String four more dark copper bugle beads onto the thread. Thread the needle through the last seed bead in the diamond to create a second diamond.
Repeat Step 4 to add seed beads to the corners of the new diamond.
Repeat Step 5 to add the center beads to the new diamond.
Create a third diamond at the base of the second by repeating Steps 6 – 8. The place your thread ends up will be the top of the earring.
String on five muscat seed beads. Then thread the needle through the first of these five seed beads, pulling the thread tight to create a circle. Reinforce the circle by stringing the thread through the circle of beads a second time.
String the thread back through the earring toward the bottom, going through the bugle beads and seed beads. When you reach the bottom, tie knot the thread you just strung through to the thread from the start of your beadwork, using two overhand knots to secure.
Add a 23mm 21-gauge copper-plated fishhook ear wire to the seed bead circle at the top of the earring.
Repeat Steps 1 – 12 for the second earring.
