Instructions
Cut the following amounts of polymer clay:
Chop all the clay into small pebble-sized pieces with a straight clay knife blade.
Drizzle Sculpey® Liquid polymer clay over the clay pieces. Use just enough to coat the clay. Then sprinkle with glitter.
Apply gold leaf on top of the liquid polymer clay.
Knead the clay together, mixing thoroughly. Form into one clay block.
With a tissue, wipe off any excess liquid polymer clay. The clay should be sticky but not dripping or seeping.
Using a polymer clay roller, roll the clay to 1/4-inch thick. Cut out a heart with a heart cutter. Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135 degrees Celsius) for 25 minutes. After it cools, apply 2-part epoxy resin and let it cure for 24 hours.
Cut the following:
Wrap the 26-gauge wire around the center of one of the 22-gauge wires 3 times.
Place the second 22-gauge wire beneath and parallel to the other 22-gauge wire. Wrap the 26-gauge wire around both wires 2 times, binding them together.
Place the third 22-gauge wire above and parallel to the other two 22-gauge wires. Wrap the 26-gauge wire around it.
Next, wrap the wire around the bottom wire.
Create a woven pattern by weaving the 26-gauge wire around the other three wires, proceeding from bottom to middle to top. Do this until you have 4 loops on the top wire and 5 on each of the other two. Cut off the excess 26-gauge wire.
Using needle-nosed pliers, make a 90-degree bend in one side of the weave. This bend will correspond to the point at the bottom of the polymer clay heart.
Place the point of the polymer clay heart into the bend in the wire. Bend the wire along the sides of the heart.
Find the place you want the second wire weave to go—about 1/3 of the way up on one side of the heart. With flat-nose pliers, make a slight inward bend on the wire at the front of the polymer clay heart. Then do the same for the wire at the back of the polymer clay heart. This should create a cage around the heart. Create another wire weave (as in Step 3) to secure the wires.
Repeat on the other side of the polymer clay heart.
Find the next places you want the wire weaves to go. This should be about 2/3 of the way up on both sides of the polymer clay heart. Repeat the process of bending the wires in an organic, freeform look to create the wire cage around the heart. Secure with wire weaving as in Step 3).
Bring all 6 wires to the top of the heart. Pull the center wires so they are horizontal, leaving the other 4 wires pointing up. Wrap the center wires around the 4 vertical wires three times, going in opposite directions.
Wrap the 4 vertical wires together with a piece of 26-gauge wire until you have a 1- to 1.5-inch length of wrapped wire. Then wrap each wire once individually. Trim the excess 26-gauge wire.
Bend the wrapped wires toward the front of the pendant. Separate the wires into two groups of 3 wires.
To secure, wrap the ends of the wire around the bottom of the bail you just created.
Trim the excess wire with flush-cutting pliers.
Slide the pendant you just created onto an 18-inch 1mm Singapore chain.
Create a 12mm ball of the clay you created earlier. Cut it in half. Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135 degrees Celsius) for 15 minutes. After it cools, apply 2-part epoxy resin and let it cure for 24 hours.
Glue the polymer clay half ball into a 12mm pendant setting using Devcon 5 Minute® Epoxy. Let it dry.
Slide the pendant you just created onto an 18-inch 1mm Singapore chain.
Make a 14mm ball of clay, using the clay you created earlier. Place the clay into a 14mm rivoli setting. Cut off the clay so that it forms a smooth surface, flush with the setting. Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135 degrees Celsius) for 15 minutes. After it cools, apply 2-part epoxy resin and let it cure for 24 hours.
Slide the pendant you just created onto an 18-inch 1mm Singapore chain.
Take a small amount of the clay you made earlier and roll it to a 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut the clay to the desired shape using clay cutters. Make one for each earring. With a toothpick, make a hole near the top of each clay piece. This is where a jump ring will be attached.
Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit (135 degrees Celsius) for 15 minutes. After it cools, apply 2-part epoxy resin and let it cure for 24 hours.
Attach a 7x5mm 18-gauge oval jump ring into the hole near the top of each polymer clay shape.
Using the jump rings, attach each polymer clay shape to an ear stud. Add ear nuts.
