Instructions
Cut two 4-inch lengths of 20-gauge silver ParaWire™.
Make a large, wrapped loop at the end of one length of 20-gauge silver ParaWire, using the smaller barrel of Wubbers® Round XL pliers. Cut off and tuck in the tail.
Tip: For information on making wrapped loops, watch the “Secrets to a Wrapped Loop” instructional video.
Thread a 4mm amethyst crystal bicone onto the remaining tail of the wrapped loop.
Finish the toggle clasp hoop by making a wrapped loop tight against the 4mm amethyst bicone, adding one end of an 18-inch length of silver-plated 2.5mm long and short chain and the bail of an amethyst point pendant to the loop before wrapping the tail. Trim the tail with flush cutters, then tuck it in with chain-nose pliers.
Place the clasp hoop on a steel block and hammer lightly with the ball peen end of a chasing hammer.
Using the tip of the barrel of round-nose pliers, make a loose bend 1 inch from the end of a 4-inch length of 20-gauge silver ParaWire. Moving down the long tail of the wire about 0.75 inch, make a second loose bend using the tip of the barrel of round-nose pliers.
Make a 90-degree bend in the center of the long tail so it is perpendicular to the previous bends. Wrap the short tail underneath and around the center of the two bends twice. Trim the tail with flush cutters, then tuck it in with chain-nose pliers.
Using the round-nose pliers, form the ends of the toggle bar into a curlicue.
Finish the bar end of the toggle clasp by making a wrapped loop, adding the free end of the chain to the loop prior to wrapping. Be careful that the chain doesn’t twist. Cut off and tuck in the tail as before.
Place the clasp bar on a steel block and hammer lightly with the ball peen end of a chasing hammer.
Tip: Fasten the necklace by passing the toggle bar through the back of the toggle hoop. This will allow the bar to seat smoothly and securely.
