Necklace

Creating the Focal Bead

STEP 1
Cut a 6-foot length of FireLine® thread. Thread a beading needle, double the thread and knot the ends together.
STEP 2
Pick up five hot pink seed beads and position them one inch from the knotted end of the thread.

Pass through the doubled threads between the knot and the beads, then pull tight to form a circle.

Pass back through the last bead.
STEP 3
Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 1. Repeat four more times.

To step up to the next row, pass through the first hot pink seed bead exited from Row 1 and the first bead added to this row.
STEP 4
Pick up two hot pink seed beads then pass through the next bead of Row 2. Repeat four more times then step up to the next row.
STEP 5
Pick up one hot pink seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 3. Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 3. Repeat four more times then step up to the next row.
STEP 6
Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 4. Repeat nine more times then step up to the next row.
STEP 7
Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 5. Pick up three hot pink seed beads then pass through the next bead of Row 5. Repeat four more times then step up to the next row.
STEP 8
Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 6.
STEP 9
Pick up two hot pink seed beads then pass through the last hot pink seed bead in the next group of three on Row 6.

Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 6. Repeat.

Repeat Step 9 four more times then step up to the next row.
STEP 10
Pick up one hot pink seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 7.
STEP 11
Pick up one hot pink seed bead then pass through the next hot pink seed bead of Row 7.

Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 7. Repeat two more times.

Repeat Step 11 three more times.
STEP 12
Pick up one hot pink seed bead then pass through the next hot pink seed bead of Row 7.

Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 7. Repeat once.
STEP 13
Pass through various adjacent beads to secure the thread, then trim.
STEP 14
Repeat Steps 1 - 13 to create a total of five pentagons.

Note: If making coordinating earrings, create two additional pentagons.
STEP 15
Cut and prepare a 6-foot length of thread using the same technique as in Step 1.
STEP 16
Repeat Steps 2 - 13.
STEP 17
Pick up one orange seed bead then pass through the next bead of Row 8. Repeat 19 more times.
STEP 18
Pass through the first orange seed bead on the edge of a pentagon. Pass through the next orange seed bead added in Step 17. Repeat two more times to connect the pentagon edges then pass through the first orange seed bead on the adjacent edge of the base pentagon.

Repeat to add a pentagon to each side of the base pentagon.

Pass through various adjacent beads to secure the thread, then trim.
STEP 19
Cut a 6-foot length of thread and add a beading needle, leaving a tail.

Pass through various seed beads of a side pentagon to secure the thread, exiting the outer right corner bead.
STEP 20
Using the peyote stitch technique and working in a counter-clockwise direction, add orange seed beads to three sides of the pentagon.

Pass through the corner bead of the base and the first edge bead of the next pentagon. Use the technique in Step 18 to attach the two side pentagons.

Repeat until all five side pentagons have been attached and form a cup. Secure and trim the thread.
STEP 21
Repeat Steps 1 - 19 to create the second half of the focal bead.
STEP 22
Cut a 6-foot length of thread and add a beading needle, leaving a tail.

On the second half of the focal bead, pass through various seed beads of a side pentagon to secure the thread, exiting the outer left corner bead.
STEP 23
Working toward the base and using the peyote stitch technique, add beads on the left side of the side pentagon.

Pass through the corner bead of the base and the first edge bead of the next pentagon. Use the technique in Step 18 to attach the two side pentagons.

Pass through beads to exit out the outer left corner bead of the attached side pentagon.

Repeat until all five side pentagons have been attached and form a cup.
STEP 24
Fit the two halves of the focal bead together. Use the technique in Step 18 to attach the two halves. Before completing the attachment place a chime in the hollow of the focal bead.
STEP 25
Pass through various beads to exit the second seed bead from a corner. Pick up a closed 4x3mm jump ring. Pass through the seed bead and the jump ring two more times to secure.

Pass through various seed beads to exit the second seed bead from the next corner on the same side of the focal bead. Pick up a closed jump ring. Pass through the seed bead and the jump ring two more times to secure. Repeat to add a jump ring to each corner of the side.
STEP 26
Mix a small amount of Devcon® 5 Minute® Epoxy according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Apply a small amount of adhesive to the center of a pentagon. Press a dark indigo flat back onto the adhesive. Repeat to add a dark indigo flat back to the center of each side of the focal bead.

Repeat to add a sunflower flat back to each corner of the focal bead. Do not add flat backs to two of the corners on the side opposite the jump rings.

Creating the Spiral Ropes

STEP 27
Cut a 6-foot length of thread and add a beading needle, leaving a tail.
STEP 28
Pick up the following:
  • Four navy blue seed beads
  • One turquoise green seed bead
  • One gold seed bead
  • One fuchsia 3mm bicone
  • One orange seed bead
  • One navy seed bead
Pass through the four navy blue seed beads again, leaving an 8-inch tail. Pull tight.

Note: The navy beads added at the beginning of each step are the base beads.
STEP 29
Pick up the following:
  • One navy blue seed bead
  • One turquoise green seed bead
  • One gold seed bead
  • One fuchsia 3mm bicone
  • One orange seed bead
  • One navy seed bead
Pass through the last four base beads and pull tight. Push the segment of non-base beads to the left.

Repeat to create a 14-inch spiral rope.
STEP 30
Pass back through various adjacent seed beads to secure the thread. Do not trim the thread.

Thread the beading needle onto the tail then secure. Do not trim the thread.
STEP 31
Repeat Steps 27 - 30 to create a second spiral rope.

Creating the Tassel

STEP 32
Thread a light turquoise 3mm bicone, a tangerine 6mm round and a light turquoise bicone onto an eye pin, then create a simple loop. Repeat to create five more light turquoise/tangerine links.

Repeat to create five links in each of the following combinations:
  • Fuchsia bicones / dark indigo round
  • Dark indigo bicones / light turquoise round
  • Tangerine bicones / light topaz round
  • Light turquoise bicones / fuchsia round
  • Light topaz bicones / dark indigo round
  • Tangerine bicones / light turquoise round
  • Fuchsia bicones / tangerine round
  • Dark indigo bicones / fuchsia round
  • Light turquoise bicones / light topaz round
  • Light topaz bicones / tangerine round
  • Fuchsia bicones / light turquoise round
  • Dark indigo bicones / light topaz round
  • Light turquoise bicones / fuchsia round
  • Tangerine bicones / dark indigo round
Repeat to create three dark indigo bicone and tangerine round links and one light topaz bicone and fuchsia link.
STEP 33
Add an ice pick bail to a light turquoise 18mm meteor pendant drop. Repeat to add a bail to four more drops.
STEP 34
Connect the following:
  • One light turquoise / tangerine link
  • One fuchsia / dark indigo link
  • One dark indigo / light turquoise link
  • One tangerine / light topaz link
  • One light turquoise / fuchsia link
  • One light topaz / dark indigo link
  • One tangerine / light turquoise link
  • One fuchsia / tangerine link
  • One dark indigo / fuchsia link
  • One light turquoise / light topaz link
  • One light topaz / tangerine link
  • One fuchsia / light turquoise link
  • One dark indigo / light topaz link
  • One light turquoise / fuchsia link
  • One tangerine / dark indigo link
Repeat to create a total of five beaded chains.
STEP 35
Attach a meteor pendant drop to the last link of a beaded chain. Repeat to add a drop to a second length of beaded chain.

To the last link of a beaded chain, add a dark indigo/tangerine link and a meteor drop. Repeat with a second length of beaded chain.

To the last link of the last beaded chain, add a dark indigo/tangerine link, a light topaz/fuchsia link and a meteor drop.

Assembling the Necklace

STEP 36
Add a 6.5x5mm jump ring to each half of a toggle clasp.
STEP 37
Thread a beading needle to the thread at the end of a spiral rope. Pass through the jump ring attached to the toggle then the last base bead of the spiral rope. Pass through the jump ring and the seed bead four more times, pulling tight.

Pass through adjacent seed beads, tie a small knot between seed beads, then pass through adjacent seed beads to secure the thread. Trim excess thread.
STEP 38
Thread a beading needle to the thread at the opposite end of the spiral rope. Pass through the seed bead at an unembellished corner of the focal bead and the first base bead of the spiral rope. Pass through both beads four more times, pulling tight.

Pass through adjacent seed beads, tie a small knot between seed beads, then pass through adjacent seed beads to secure the thread. Trim excess thread.
STEP 39
Repeat Steps 37 and 38 to attach the second spiral rope.
STEP 40
Add a beaded chain to each of the jump rings attached to the focal bead.

Earrings

STEP 1
Cut a 3-foot length of thread and add a beading needle, leaving a tail.

Pass through various adjacent seed beads in a beaded pentagon to secure the thread, exiting out of a corner bead.
STEP 2
Pass through a closed 4x3mm jump ring then the seed bead previously exited. Pass through the jump ring and seed bead three more times, pulling tight.

Pass through adjacent beads to reach the next corner bead and repeat to add a jump ring. Repeat to add a jump ring to each corner of the pentagon and the center edge bead of one side.

Repeat to add jump rings to a second beaded pentagon.
STEP 3
Mix a small amount of Devcon 5 Minute Epoxy according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Apply adhesive to the center of a beaded pentagon, then press on a dark indigo flat back. Repeat to add a dark indigo flat back to the center of a second beaded pentagon and sunflower flat backs to each corner of both pentagons. Set aside to dry.

Repeat to embellish the back side of each pentagon.
STEP 4
String a light turquoise 6mm round onto a head pin then create a simple loop. Repeat to create a total of ten drops.
STEP 5
String a light topaz 3mm bicone onto an eye pin and create a simple loop. Repeat to create a total of ten light topaz links.

Repeat to create the following 3mm bicone links:
  • Ten dark indigo
  • Ten tangerine
  • Ten fuchsia
  • Two light turquoise
STEP 6
Attach the following:
  • One fuchsia link
  • One tangerine link
  • One dark indigo link
  • One light topaz link
  • One light turquoise drop
Repeat to create a total of eight beaded chains.
STEP 7
Attach the following:
  • One light turquoise link
  • One fuchsia link
  • One tangerine link
  • One dark indigo link
  • One light topaz link
  • One light turquoise drop
Repeat to create a second beaded chain.
STEP 8
Attach a long beaded chain to the jump ring at the center of a side on a beaded pentagon.

Attach an ear wire to the jump ring opposite the long beaded chain.

Attach a short beaded chain to the remaining jump rings.

Repeat to complete the second earring.
