Triple-Strand Necklace and Earring Set with Czech Fire-Polished Glass Beads, Gold-Plated Brass Drops and Chain and Kumihimo Imitation Silk Cord

Kumihimo Cord

STEP 1
Using scissors cut seven 4-foot lengths of red imitation silk cord and one 4-foot length of gold imitation silk cord.
STEP 2
Match up one end of three strands of red cord and one strand of gold cord. Pass a gold-plated 8mm fancy jumpring over the cords, positioning the jumpring in the center of the cords. Fold the cords over and match up the ends, creating eight strands.
STEP 3
Place the jumpring through the center of the Kumihimo disc, and place the strands through the slots on the card making sure that the gold cords are opposite of each other. Weave the cord in a basic 8-cord pattern until the cord is 12 inches in length.
STEP 4
Cut a 6-inch length of red Nymo thread. Tightly wind the thread around the end of the woven cord, tying the thread using two overhand knots to secure the thread in place. Cut the excess thread and even the ends of the woven cord.
STEP 5
Place a small amount of E-6000 adhesive on the end of the woven cord. Pass the end of the cords into a cord coil. Compress the first coil at the base of the coil end using flat- or chain-nose pliers.
STEP 6
Repeat Steps 2 - 5 to create a second woven cord using the remaining four strands of red cord.

Beading Links

STEP 7
String one 8mm faceted round ruby red glass bead onto a 1-inch eyepin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating an 8mm faceted round ruby red glass beading link. Repeat to create a total of nine 8mm faceted round ruby red glass beading links.

Repeat to create the following using:
  • Twenty-three 6mm faceted round emerald glass beading links using one 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead and one 1-inch eyepin
  • One 8mm faceted round emerald glass beading link using one 8mm faceted round emerald glass bead and one 1-inch eyepin
  • Two 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead drops using one 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead and one 1-inch headpin
  • Two 6mm faceted round ruby red glass beading links using one 6mm faceted round ruby red glass bead and one 1-inch headpin
  • Four emerald glass bead with spiral cone drops using one 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead, one gold-plated spiral cone, one gold-plated 3mm round bead and one 2-inch headpin
  • Four ruby red glass bead with spiral cone drops using one 6mm faceted round ruby red glass bead, one gold-plated spiral cone, one gold-plated 3mm round bead and one 2-inch headpin
STEP 8
Using flush-cutters, cut the following lengths of chain:
  • Two 1-link lengths, one 3-link length, eleven 4-link lengths, one 6-link length, one 7-link length, one 8-link length, one 6-link length, one 10-link length, one 14-link length and one 16-link length of gold-plated 6.5x4mm cable chain
  • Two 12-inch lengths of gold-plated flower link chain

Emerald Green Half of Necklace

STEP 9
Using a pair of chain-nose pliers and flat-nose pliers, open a 6mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the lobster claw portion of the clasp and the first link on a 4-link length of cable chain. Close the jumpring.
STEP 10
Open the loop on the cord coil attached to the red woven cord. Pass the loop through the first link on a 12-inch length of gold-plated flower link chain, the last link on the 4-link length of cable chain from Step 9, and a 6mm fancy jumpring. Close the loop.
STEP 11
Open the loop on a 6mm faceted round emerald glass beading link. Pass it through the 6mm fancy jumpring from Step 10. Close the loop. Continue to attach twenty three 6mm faceted round emerald glass beading links using a 3mm jumpring in between each beading link.
STEP 12
Open a 6mm fancy jumpring. Pass it through the loop on the last 6mm faceted round emerald glass beading link and the 8mm fancy jumpring attached to the opposite end of the 12-inch red and gold woven cord. Close the jumpring.

Open the link on a 12-inch length of gold-plated flower link chain. Pass it over the 8mm fancy jumpring attached to the 12-inch red and gold woven cord. Close the link.

Ruby Red Half of the Necklace

STEP 13
Open the loop on a 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead drop. Pass it through the first link on a 16-link length of cable chain. Close the loop. Repeat to attach a 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead drop to the second link on the 16-link length of cable chain. Repeat to attach a 6mm faceted round ruby red glass bead drop to the first and second link on the 16-link length of cable chain.
STEP 14
Open the loop on the cord coil attached to the red and gold woven cord. Pass the loop through the first link on a 12-inch length of gold-plated flower link chain, the last link on the 16-link length of cable chain from Step 13, and a 4-link length of cable chain. Close the loop.
STEP 15
Open the loop on an 8mm faceted round ruby glass beading link. Pass it through the last link on the 4-link length of cable chain from Step 14. Close the loop. Continue to attach nine 8mm faceted round ruby glass beading links using a 4-link length of cable chain in between each beading link.
STEP 16
Open a 1-link length of cable chain. Pass it through the loop on the last 8mm faceted round ruby glass beading link and the 8mm fancy jumpring attached to the opposite end of the 12-inch red and gold woven cord. Close the chain link.

Open the link on a 12-inch length of gold-plated flower link chain. Pass it over the 8mm fancy jumpring attached to the 12-inch red woven cord. Close the link.

Tassel

STEP 17
Open the loop on an emerald glass bead with spiral cone drop. Pass it through the link on the 1-link length of cable chain. Close the loop.

Repeat to attach an emerald glass bead with spiral cone drop to a 6-link length of cable chain, a 7-link length of cable chain, and a 14-link length of cable chain.

Repeat to attach a ruby red glass bead with spiral cone drop to a 3-link length of cable chain, a 4-link length of cable chain, an 8-link length of cable chain, and a 10-link length of cable chain.
STEP 18
Open an 8mm fancy jumpring. Pass the jumpring through the first link on each of the chains attached to the spiral cone drops in a random pattern and the 8mm emerald beading link.
STEP 19
Open the opposite loop on the 8mm emerald beading link and attach to the fancy jumpring connecting the two woven cords.

Earrings

STEP 1
Using scissors cut three12-inch lengths of red imitation silk cord and one 12-inch length of gold imitation silk cord.

Match up one end of three strands of red cord and one strand of gold cord. Fold the cords over and match up the ends, creating eight strands. Tie a knot in the center of the cords.
STEP 3
Place the knot through the center of the Kumihimo disc, and place the strands through the slots on the card making sure that the gold cords are opposite of each other. Weave the cord in a basic 8-cord pattern until the cord is 1-inch in length.
STEP 4
Cut a 6-inch length of red Nymo thread. Tightly wind the thread around the end of the woven cord, tying the thread using two overhand knots to secure the thread in place. Cut the excess thread and even the ends of the woven cord. Repeat at the opposite end of the cord to secure the woven cord.

Repeat to create a second 1-inch length of the red and gold woven cord.
STEP 5
Place a small amount of E-6000 adhesive on the end of the woven cord. Pass the end of the cords into a cord coil. Compress the first coil at the base of the coil end using flat- or chain-nose pliers. Repeat to attach a cord coil to both ends of the two 1-inch lengths of woven cord.
STEP 6
String one 6mm faceted round ruby red glass bead, one gold-plated spiral cone, one gold-plated 3mm round bead onto a 2-inch headpin. Using a pair of chain-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and flush-cutters, form a simple loop on the straight end of the wire, creating a ruby red glass bead with spiral cone drop. Repeat to create one emerald glass bead with spiral cone drop using a 6mm faceted round emerald glass bead.
STEP 7
Open the loop on an earwire. Pass it through the first loop on a 1-inch length of the red and gold woven cord. Close the loop. Open the loop on the ruby red glass bead with spiral cone drop. Pass the loop through opposite loop on a 1-inch length of the red and gold woven cord. Close the loop.

Repeat Steps 1 - 7 to create the second earring.
