Color Squashing Polymer Clay

Presented by Christi Friesen, Award-Winning Artist, Author and Educator
Instructions by Andrew, Content Development Group, Exclusively for Fire Mountain Gems and Beads®

Once you know the rules about mixing colors of polymer clay, throw them out the window to follow along with award-winning artist Christi Friesen as she shows you how to create what she calls a “look-it blend” for fun and unexpected jewelry clay designs.
Wad together scrap pieces of polymer clay into a ball. Flatten the clay using your fingers then run it through a pasta machine.

Identify an area of the clay that has a visually pleasing color pattern, fold the other areas of the clay underneath, then run it back through the pasta machine.

Note: Air bubbles may form when folding the clay. Run the clay through a pasta machine (fold first) to prevent any bubbles from forming. If the piece being worked on requires no air bubbles, pierce the clay with a needle to vent.
Continue to fold and run the clay through the pasta machine until the desired color blend is achieved.
