Instructions
Condition and shape forest green Sculpey® PREMO polymer clay into an oval beetle body. Bake according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Allow it to cool completely, then lightly apply mica powder to enhance the surface color and dimension.
Cut one (1) 3-inch length of 2mm silver-plated rhinestone cup chain. Arrange and adhere the cupchain onto the beetle body, using Devcon 5 Minute® two-part epoxy, to create a decorative center pattern. Allow the epoxy to dry completely.
Using more two-part epoxy, attach two green jewel beetle wings to the clay body, positioning them symmetrically along each side. Allow the epoxy to dry completely.
Cut one (1) 12-inch length of 20-gauge sterling silver dead-soft square wire. Fold the wire in half and shape it around the beetle form to create a double-wire frame. At the top, form a loop to create a bail.
Wrap 20-gauge sterling silver half-hard half-round wire neatly around the bail to secure and reinforce the top connection.
Cut one (1) 7-inch length of sterling silver half-hard half-round wire. Wrap loops around both wires at the bottom and sides of the frame to hold the beetle in place. Gently adjust the frame as needed to fit the beetle snugly.
Using E6000® PREMIUM™ Jewelry & Bead™ adhesive, glue two Crystal Passions® jet SS10 flat back rhinestones onto the beetle to create eyes. Allow the adhesive to dry completely.
Slide the finished pendant onto a 20-inch Gossamer™ sterling silver 1mm serpentine chain to complete the necklace.
